Welcome to my website on facial hair removal. This website will cover all aspects of facial hair removal as well as hair removal on other parts of the body. My goal is for this web site to be the most comprehensive place on the Internet about the topic of hair removal.

I will be discussing products that are used for facial hair removal and body hair removal as well as different techniques that people have been successful with at removing unwanted hair. Some of the methods of hair removal that I’ll be talking about are.

Laser Hair Removal - Laser hair removal will be covered quite extensively on this site

Male Laser Hair Removal - This will be one of the first things that we cover. Male laser hair removal is growing in popularity. It’s become more acceptable for men to undergo hair removal. We’ll be talking about all aspects of laser hair removal for men.

Laser Back Hair Removal – This is another one for the men. Very few women have back hair but some do so it might be useful information for women as well. Laser back hair removal is quick and easy and becoming more affordable everyday.

I’ll cover traditional facial hair removal like shaving with a disposable razor and shaving with an electric razor. Believe it or not, many men don’t shave correctly and this can result in missed whiskers, cuts, and even acne. Many women have embarrassing facial hair. You’ll find a lot of useful information for women who are interested in facial hair removal on this site. Women are often quite embarrassed or ashamed by their facial hair. We’ll discuss methods that women can use to rid themselves of this unwanted facial hair.

Well talk about laser hair removal prices and the factors that contribute to the cost. We’ll talk about facial hair removal products such as razors but also creams that can be used to remove unwanted facial hair. The face isn’t the only area of the body that grows unwanted hair. We’ll talk about hair removal from other parts of the body as well including, the arms, back, chest and legs.

Laser hair removal will be a big area of focus for this site since it is becoming so popular for both men and women. Laser hair removal was once reserved almost exclusively for the upper class but it is becoming more mainstream and affordable. We’ll talk about how the actual procedure is done as well as discuss prices for laser hair removal. Prices for laser hair removal are definitely coming down.

Of course, these are just a few of the hair removal topics that I’ll be writing about. There’s bound to be something here of interest to everyone.

I’ll be adding to this site quite frequently so if you don’t find what you’re looking for here today, check back tomorrow and it might just be here. You can also subscribe to my RSS feed by clicking on the RSS button in the upper right hand corner of the screen. This will send all of my most recent posts on the topic of hair removal directly to your RSS reader.

There are several factors that come into play when trying to determine laser hair removal prices. In this article we will discuss the factors that determine the price of laser hair removal. It’s impossible to tell you exactly how much laser hair removal will cost you because of all the variables but we’ll give you a general idea.

The first thing that contributes to the price of laser hair removal is your geographic location. Some areas of the country are going to be much more expensive for the procedure than others. A laser hair removal clinic in Beverly Hills, California for example is likely to charge much more then one in Rigby, Idaho. This has to do with simple economics. People in Beverly Hills can and will pay more for the procedure so the clinics there will charge a higher fee. If laser hair removal clinics in Rigby, Idaho tried to charge the same amount that clinics in Beverly Hills charge, no one would have the procedure done. People in Rigby, Idaho don’t make as much money and therefore, can’t afford to spend as much for the procedure. In order for Dermatologists, Plastic Surgeons, or laser hair removal clinics in smaller areas to stay in business, they have to charge a fee that is affordable by their clientele.

The time of year that you have the procedure done may also affect the price. Laser hair removal clinics are usually more busy during the Spring and Summer months. You might get a better deal if you have the procedure done during the Winter months when they don’t have as much business coming in. It’s possible that they might offer special promotions during these slow months to drum up business.

Another factor that contributes to prices for laser hair removal is who you choose to go to for the procedure. As a general rule, Plastic Surgeons will typically charge more than a clinic that specializes in laser hair removal and does quite a lot of it. Dermatologists will also likely be higher in cost than a laser hair removal clinic. These clinics can often keep their costs lower because they specialize in laser hair removal and are very efficient at what they do. Because they do the procedure in large volumes, they can often offer better prices for laser hair removal than doctors can.

Yet another factor that will contribute to the cost of laser hair removal is your particular body type. If you are a lady who is interested in laser hair removal on her upper lip, you will pay a much less than a man with a lot of hair on his back to be removed. The density of hair plays a role in the laser hair removal price as does skin and hair type. It’s easiest to remove hair from individuals who have pale complexions and dark, course hair. If you have dark skin or you have pale skin and blond fine hair, the laser hair removal specialists will have more difficult time and consequently you’ll likely be charged more.

Yet another factor that determines the laser hair removal price is how the clinic or doctor that you go to bills for the procedure. Some base their charges on the density of the hair. Some base their charges on the amount of time it will take for the procedure. Some charge for each individual pulse of the laser hair removal machine. Others base their charges on the size of the area to be treated. You should discuss these issues during your initial consultation at the laser hair removal clinic. It’s a good idea to know exactly what will determine the laser hair removal pricing before you sit down for your first treatment.

Having mentioned all of these factors in determining laser hair removal prices, you probably want a general idea of what this procedure might cost you. I spent a lot of time trying to find the best estimate for the price of laser hair removal and what I found was exactly what I expected to find. Depending on which website you visit, you are going to find estimates ranging from $150 to $650 per treatment session. I found a website for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery that lists the average price for laser hair removal at around $347 per treatment session.

It’s not uncommon to need between six and eight treatement sessions depending on several factors that we’ve already discussed. Based on this information, we can calculate the average cost according the the ASAPS to be between $2,082 – $2,776 ($347 x 6 and $347 x 8).

If you find a website claiming to be able to tell you exactly how much you will pay for laser hair removal, they are lying to you. There are just too many factors that come in to play. I’m sure this isn’t what you wanted to hear since you’re likely reading this article to find out exactly how much the procedure costs but it’s the best “honest” answer I can give you.

There are some things that you can do that may help you get better laser hair removal prices.

During your initial consultation, ask for a discount if you pay for all of your treatments sessions up front.

Ask if there are any specials or promotions that they are currently offering. If they arn’t offering any now. Ask them when they will be offering special promotions and schedule your treatments then.

Ask them if they offer group discounts. This may seem silly but they may offer you a better rate if you can convince several of your friends to have laser hair removal done at the same clinic. They may not offer group discounts but they may offer discounts for referrals. It doesn’t hurt to ask as they likely won’t volunteer this information.

Another way to get a good price is to find a clinic that charges a flat fee for the procedure. This may save you a lot of money if you have a large area to be treated or you have very dense hair.

Thanks for stopping by my website on facial hair removal tips. I hope you found what you were looking for here.

If you are interested in learning about laser hair removal, you’ve come to the right spot. Laser hair removal is really gaining in popularity in recent years. There was a time when it was mainly reserved for the upper class. This was primarily due to the fact that it was so darn expensive. The well-to-do were really the only ones who could afford it. Now days laser hair removal is performed on people from all walks of life.

Another recent change is that more and more men are now undergoing the procedure. Male laser hair removal is really gaining in popularity these days. Men usually undergo the procedure for facial, chest, and back hair removal.

Now, without further delay, let’s have a closer look at the laser hair removal process. Surprisingly enough, laser hair removal first became accepted as a legitimate form of hair removal in the 1970′s. It was still relatively obscure back then and the tools were a bit rudimentary compared to today’s standards.

There are two forms of light based hair removal that are often confused. The first is laser hair removal that which uses specially calibrated lasers to remove hair and the second is IPL or intense pulsed light hair removal that uses a super intense broad spectrum light for hair removal. Laser hair removal uses light that is focused at one particular wavelength and IPL uses multiple wavelengths of light. Both are light based hair removal methods and although not correct, they are often both referred to as laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal works by what is called selective photothermolysis (SPTL). In laymans terms, this simply means that specialized lasers can selective cause damage by heating the melanin in the hair follicle (the part that is responsible for hair growth) without causing damage to other parts of the skin. This works because lasers are a form of light and light is easily absorbed by dark things. The melanin in the hair follicle is darker than the surrounding skin so it absorbs the most light. Melanin is the chemical in the skin that gives it color.

Laser hair removal works best on light skinned patients with dark hair. That’s not to say that it doesn’t work on other people as well. This is just the best combination for optimal results.

The design of lasers that are used for laser hair removal today were originally designed in 1997. They are considered safe and effective for “permanent hair reduction” by the FDA. You’ll notice that they use the term “permanent hair reduction”. This basically means that the number of hairs that regrow after treatment is less than the number of hairs that normally grow.

Most people who undergo the therapy go in to the clinic for the procedure and come out without any hair on the treated area. Unlike shaving where the hairs quickly grow back, the hairs treated with the lasers take a long time to grow back. It’s common for clients to go in for several treatments. With each treatment, fewer and fewer hairs regrow. It’s not uncommon for people to have to go back in for “touch ups” if there is a particular area where the hair is regrowing.

If you missed part one of our discussion on laser hair removal click here: Laser Hair Removal to read it. If you’ve already read part one and you’re here to read part two, welcome back.

Let’s kick it off by talking about the types of lasers used for laser hair removal. There are several different types of lasers that are used for hair removal. They are defined by the lasing medium used to produce the laser. Let’s have a look at the different types. They are also defined by the wavelength of the laser which is measured in nanometers.

Nd:YAG laser: 1064 nm Near-Infrared. They laser is effective on all skin tones but it is made primarily for removing hair in dark skinned people.

Argon: 488 nm – Deep Sky Blue or 514.5 nm – Cyan. It is not used for hair removal any more.

Ruby: 694.3 nm – Orange Red. This laser has also been discontinued for use with laser hair removal since it is only safe for use on patients with very pale skin.

Alexandrite: 755 nm – Red. This laser works best on light colored skin and it’s not safe for use on dark skin types.

Pulsed diode array: 810 nm Near-Infrared. This laser works best on light to medium toned skin.

The pulse width is an important factor in the effectiveness of laser hair removal. Shorter pulse widths are most effective and hair removal but longer pulse widths are safer for individuals with dark skin. It’s believed that a few pulses in a row is at each hair follicle give the longest lasting results.

For the longest lasting results, several treatment sessions are required. The number of sessions is usually between six and eight. The patient must wait about eight weeks between each treatment session. The number of treatment sessions depends on skin pigment, sex, coarseness of the hair, and location of the hair on the body. Some parts of the body necessitate more sessions than on others. Men’s faces would be a good example of an area that is likely to require more sessions.

There are some potential side effects that are worth noting. They are itching, swelling, and redness. These side effects
should only last a few days. Another side effect is pain. It’s likely to sting a bit. Most laser hair removal clinics will apply numbing cream to the area before and after the treatment session to minimize any discomfort that patients might experience.

If the right laser isn’t used for a particular skin type or the settings are calibrated incorrectly there are risks of skin burning, hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation (light or dark skin pigmentation), acne break outs, swelling, scabs, red of purple skin, and infection.

It seems a bit strange to be writing about the subject of male laser hair removal since only a few years ago laser hair removal was almost exclusively performed on women. Men have always been concerned with facial hair removal when it came to shaving their whiskers but laser hair removal on men is just recently becoming acceptable to the masses.

It’s not that laser hair removal is any more difficult to perform on men. It’s just that men tend to be a little bit behind the game when it comes to grooming techniques. For century’s, men have been been concerned with facial hair removal. The day in and day out routine of waking up and shaving yesterday’s stubble off has been a time honored tradition among men around the globe.

Only recently have men started accepting facial hair laser removal as an acceptable method of removing facial hair. It makes sense for men to concern themselves with facial hair laser removal since facial hair is somewhat out of vogue these days. Undergoing this type of procedure can save men hundreds upon hundreds of hours of time that they spend in front of the mirror shaving throughout their lives. Many men are looking into laser facial hair removal because they really loathe the act of shaving. Let’s face it. People like things that make their lives more simple. Having facial hair removed with laser treatments will certainly simplify a man’s life.

The most popular use of lasers for hair removal on men is laser back hair removal. Nearly all men have back hair to some degree. For some reason, chest hair is considered “manly” and back hair is considered gross. Who knows why this is. I certainly don’t. Many men shave their backs with the help from their wife or girlfriend but this must be done everyday and it can become quite a burden. If you think it takes a long time for a guy to shave his face every morning. Think of all the time that goes into shaving a guys back. Laser back hair removal can save a man countless hours of primping time. Most guys don’t like to spend any more time than is necessary in front of the mirror anyway. If lasers can be used to remove a man’s back hair so he doesn’t need to go through the time consuming process of shaving his back, then by all means, do it. Many men are in the situation of not having anyone to shave their back for them. Male laser hair removal is a perfect solution for men who are in this boat.

Laser hair removal just makes sense for men. It can save so much time. You know the old saying, “time is money”? Think of all the time that a guy can save if he didn’t have to shave every day. Okay, you don’t have to think about it, I’ll do it for you. If a man spends 15 minutes a day shaving and he shaves every day of the year, that works out to be 91.25 hours that he spends with the razor in one year alone. In ten years, he would have spent 38 entire days of those ten years shaving. If you figure that a man probably starts shaving at the age of 15 and lives to an average age of 75 in the US, that means that in that man’s lifetime, he will have spent a whopping 228 days in front of the mirror shaving. This is only factoring in facial hair removal. If I were to calculate back hair removal, the numbers would be staggering.

Can you see why now why it makes sense that more and more men are looking into male laser hair removal? If you are one of these men, check out the “Learning Center” in the right sidebar of my website for more information on Male laser hair removal and laser hair removal prices.
